With themes of animals and nature, her children's fiction aims to encourage children to connect with the natural world.
Kelly's first picture book, Timmy and Matilda: The Butterfly was released in and followed up later that year with 'It's Autumn! Upcoming projects include further installments in the Timmy and Matilda series, fiction for slightly older children and a YA fantasy novel, all of which have the natural world as their central theme.
Kelly comes from a background of supporting children and young people in a wide range of education settings. Alongside writing, she currently works with young adults with learning disabilities, which is why she is donating a proportion of the the royalties earned from Timmy and Matilda to the Down's Syndrome Association.
